CCT, a leader in thermal assurance solutions and cold chain management, has passed its target of avoiding 100 million pounds of landfill waste by 2025, reaching this goal one year early. This result highlights its strong commitment to reducing waste across the cold chain sector. So far, more than 12.5 million shipments have been supported using reusable and sustainable packaging, helping protect temperature sensitive goods in transit.
Tower Cold Chain, which provides passive temperature-controlled reusable containers for pharmaceuticals and clinical trials, has earned an EcoVadis gold medal. This places the company in the top 5% of businesses for sustainability. It also improves on the silver rating received in 2023 and reflects continued progress in sustainable practices across a wide temperature range.
These milestones follow CCT’s acquisition of Tower Cold Chain in October 2024, a move that has supported growth for both companies.
The integration of Tower’s expertise in reusable temperature-controlled logistics with CCT’s wider range of solutions has expanded product offerings and driven innovation. This partnership strengthens capabilities for transporting temperature sensitive products while reducing environmental impact across the sector.
Both companies are also improving sustainability through digital platforms such as CCT Smart Solutions and the Tower Control Center. These tools provide track-and-trace features and real-time monitoring of shipment conditions, ensuring products remain stable throughout transit. This helps ensure life science shipments arrive in the right condition while reducing waste and avoiding unnecessary reshipments.
Over the past year, Tower has increased its focus on sustainability through several new initiatives. These include a carbon calculator to measure and reduce environmental impact, further investment in research with Cardiff University, and the launch of a Sustainability Hub. This online resource gives customers access to tools, reports, and ethics and compliance information.
CCT’s landfill avoidance results also reflect its commitment to helping customers meet their sustainability goals. By supporting the use of reusable and sustainable packaging and expanding its product range following the Tower acquisition, the company continues to reduce waste and improve sustainability across the wider supply chain.
