Health & Safety Policy Statement

Health and safety

At Tower Cold Chain we are committed to maintaining a safe working environment, which supports the safety and well-being of our employees, sub-contractors and customers. We also promote a Health and Safety culture throughout our organisation, which aims to eliminate risks and hazards, prevent injuries and ill health of any party who may be affected by our work activities or by working within our premises.

To support this we have implemented an Occupational Safety & Health Management System aligned to ISO 45001:2018.

We will, so far as is reasonably practicable, ensure that:

  • Risks arising from work activities are assessed; eliminated where possible or effective control measures and suitable policies and procedures are put in place and regularly reviewed.
  • We comply with applicable legal requirements and with other obligations to which we may subscribe, that relate to health & safety hazards in relation to our business activities.
  • Employees, sub-contractors and customers participate and consult on matters affecting health and safety as an integral part of our day-to-day operations.
  • All employees and contractors are competent to undertake their tasks, and that adequate training and information is provided.
  • We maintain safe and healthy working conditions in any working environment under our control.
  • Work related accidents, incidents, ill health and safety performance are monitored.
  • We continually improve our Occupational Health and Safety management and performance through the setting and monitoring of objectives and targets in line with company goals.

The person accountable for Health & Safety is the Chief Executive Officer.

The day-to-day responsibility for ensuring this Policy is put into practice is delegated to departmental managers.

All employees and sub-contractors must:

  • Perform their assigned duties safely by following established safe working procedures.
  • Co-operate with managers and supervisors on health and safety matters.
  • Comply with all industry health and safety requirements, where applicable.
  • Not interfere with anything provided to safeguard their health and safety.
  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety.
  • Report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person including any unsafe acts or conditions.

Revisions to the policy shall be implemented as a result of any highlighted deficiencies in our health & safety performance or by new legislation and applicable industry standards.

As a minimum, we will review this policy annually to ensure its ongoing suitability.

This Policy will be communicated to all individuals working for, on behalf of, the company and will be included in our induction training. It is available to all of our employees via our company electronic systems.

It will be provided to our supply chain as appropriate and is available to any interested parties upon request.
